ASSET served as prime contractor for the new construction of a Mechanical Breathing Air System. The project required close coordination with building users to minimize disruption of the occupied hangar, as well as traffic coordination for the delivery of drilled piers and heavy equipment.

The new system was constructed on top of an existing occupied building and was completed in two phases. Phase I included complete construction, testing, commissioning and acceptance of the new mechanical room and equipment. Phase II consisted of de-commissioning and demolition of the existing breathing air equipment.

Construction: Construction project included a new transformer pad, removable steel bollards around the new electrical transformer, new underground electrical service in the concrete duct bank, installation of new sidewalks, new storm drain, new sod installation, downspouts from the existing hangar to the roof of the newly constructed breathing air facility, new equipment room (metal walls and roof), insulation, piers, platform, new flooring, interior walls, ceiling, new electrical systems, mechanical equipment and systems, new plumbing systems and fire sprinkler system.

Demolition: Demolition project included trenching of 120 feet of asphalt, concrete and natural ground for electrical utility connection; removal of an existing storm drain; removal of the existing Annex below the construction zone; removal of existing mechanical breathing air equipment; and removal of existing roof mounted electrical system.

This project was completed 3 months ahead of schedule.
